LACMA

2013.10.21
Day One Hundred and Fifty Three. If I thought I was overwhelmed by the amount of awesome in LA, nothing could have prepared me for the Los Angeles County Museum of Art. Having been to The Met in New York, I was beginning to consider myself spoiled and marginally unable to truly enjoy another art museum again. That problem came crashing down the moment I set foot in the LACMA. While I will patently refuse to even entertain the question of which museum is better, I will, without a doubt, say they are on the same level. While I was impressed with the assortment of traditional paintings and sculpture, I have to say I was surprised to discover that my favourite piece was not among them, but a linocut in the Gráfica Popular exhibit by Leopoldo Méndez. The raw emotion he was able to capture is truly powerful.
