Monterey Low Light

2012.05.11
Day Fifty Six. Went for a walk down the Monterey Bay Coastal Recreation Trail just after sunset to do a super high ISO test with the D800. Every single one of these images was taken hand held. There is no tripod here. I used the 50mm fixed prime for the light gathering ability of its 1.4 aperture. While the aperture certainly provided enough light, focusing it proved to be the greatest challenge. I'm sure the low light didn't help that either, but if you zoom in to 100%, in many cases, it can be difficult to tell just what (if anything in some of them) is actually in focus (the high ISO noise also has a negative effect here). Overall, I am impressed with the results and absolutely love the colours captured here :)
